Going Downhill

I've been to Pure Gold off and on for about 10 years. Each time it has declined a little more. Most recently I went on a Tuesday evening in August. What a disappointment!

Arrived around 9:15pm and was one of only a handful of patrons. Near the end of golf season I expected the club to be rocking, as it had in the past, but no!

The place had been cleaned up since my last visit. Gone was the gaudy art, video monitors and the magnetometer to get in. Unfortunately gone also was the restroom attendant and the best looking girls. Now the girls are average and the restroom needed attending, especially for such a slow night.

Domestic beers were $4.25 and the girl didn't even make a pretense about offering change for a five, though she was appreciative when I added another dollar. I was one of only two tipping the dancers and as a result their enthusiasm waned significantly while onstage.

There were pairs of upholstered chairs at tables but the vast majority of seating was vinyl on metal, on which the vinyl was cracked and the stuffing was pouring out.
