sinclair's Review
The best way to think of the Spearmint Rhino in Carter Lake is that it is two separate clubs inside the same building. One club has a full bar and must shut down at 02:00. The other club is BYOB and does not have to shut down at 02:00. The cover for the full bar club is $10. The cover for the BYOB club is $20. Dancers are free to circulate between both clubs. However, from what I was told by one dancer, more dancers tend to loiter on the full service side. If you start out at the side with the bar and want to go to the BYOB side after the two o’clock closing time, you must pay an additional cover. However, it was unclear to me if you had to pay the $10 difference or the full $20.
The club has one central stage with a single pole. The bar is on the back wall. In the far corner of the room is a whole wing with lap dance booths built into the walls. There is also an overflow area for lap dances in the front wall. Both have minimal privacy. Sincweisers were $4, not too bad for a strip club. The waitresses and bartenders were hot, on par with the most beautiful dancers.
Lap dances are $25 each. An employee walks around during every song with a clipboard and takes note of which dancers are giving lap dances. At the end of the night, they owe the club $5 to the for each lap dance they did, leaving them with a $20 take home pay for each lap dance. About once every sixty or ninety minutes, the club would roll call all of the dancers on stage and then announce 2-for-1 lap dances. The best looking dancers bring in about $100 in singles during a stage performance. Some dancers give good attention at the stage, while others expect you to just toss money at them without any interaction.
