Visited: Tuesday Evening

I visited the Playhouse Performing Arts Theater on a Tuesday night around 21:00. The club is right off of I-29 and looks like a big warehouse. I paid $15 at the door, and upon entering, the club was dead. At any given time during the night, there was only one or two other customers, or I was the lone customer. The club is BYOB. However, only beer in aluminum cans is allowed. No hard alcohol or bottled beer is allowed. Where you pay the cover, there is a room called the “Beer Barn” where cans of beer are sold onsite. They would sell you a single can for $3 or a six-pack of cans for $12. There were also vending machines inside the club that sold cans of soda, bottles of water, and bottles of Gatorade. All three were sold for $2 each.

The inside was huge. The interior has more square footage than a Walgreens. There were nine different pole positions on two separate runway stages. The stage closer to the entrance is a cross with three poles. The stage occupying the back two-thirds of the building is a “T” shape with six poles. In a corner near the DJ booth is a shower stall for shower shows. It looked like it had not been used in a while.

There were eight dancers working this evening. Since the crowd was almost nonexistent, I got the chance to talk with all of them. Most of the dancers were white and showed evidence of popping out a kid in prior years or the recent past.
