Saturday Matinee

I was in Manhattan for one of my regular business trips to the financial district, but I prefer to stay in midtown close to the theatre district, which is convenient to Broadway and Times Square. I extended my trip over the weekend after concluding business on Friday afternoon and had tickets to a Saturday matinee. I had a quick lunch at a deli and still had some time to kill before the 3:00 pm curtain so decided to drop by Flashdancers, an easy 10 minute walk from my hotel at 44th and 6th.

You enter the club from a flight of rather steep stairs down to its basement location. There was no cover at 1:00 pm when I arrived. There is also a 2-for-1 happy hour special in the afternoon on your first drink, so 2 glasses of sauvignon blanc set me back $15.00, which is not bad for midtown drink pricing. Bartenders were efficient if not altogether personable, but timely service was provided. Dancers were primarily of eastern European and Puerto Rican lineage on my visit. All shapes and sizes. I prefer taller, slender girls with a nice, natural rack, and there were plenty who met those criteria to choose from. I was surprised by the relatively reasonable $20 tariff for lap dances - I did not attempt to negotiate a volume discount as I was on a limited timeline and wanted to sample as many of the concoctions as I could. Dances are topless both on stage and in the not-very-private couches in the private dance area. Liberal touching was allowed, but no exploring of the nether regions. My favorite was a Russian girl from Moscow working under the name Natasha, which is a bit of a cliche', but what the hell. Nice natural C-cups with strawberry toppings which came to full attention with my ministrations. A delightful experience, although beware the upsell to the so-called "champagne room," which is ridiculously expensive. I did not partake of that option. All in all, a great way to kill 90 minutes or so before a show. I will return next visit.
