Golden Nugget is now called the...

Golden Nugget is now called the Red Room (from the name of a neighborhood strip bar in Highlandtown that closed), under new management. The new management has cleaned things up a bit. Girls are generally friendly but mileage seems highly variable. One afternoon I saw one guy who was apparently trying to work off a Viagra overdose at the back of the bar, but that's pretty unusual. Typically you can expect pretty much the typical Block fare, with an occasional high point. The Nugget was once the basement/VIP area of the upstairs bar (the Pussycat), then it was an all-you-can-eat XXX theatre with "hostesses" in the 70's. It became the Golden Nugget in the 80's, and the movie screen at the back was decorated by a well-known local artist with a painting of a lucky gold miner being visited by some lovely gold-dust nymphs (the painting is still there). The new business strategy seems to be based on the concept that any girl is OK, as long as she brings in the cash. Result: lots of variability in dancers, lots of different strategies for bringing in the cash, and lots of different experiences to be had. YMMV a LOT!
