A potential must-see oddity
Note: this visit actually took place October 2015.
Was in town for a conference with a mixed group of work colleagues, when one of the women suggested we check out the Clermont as just "one of those things" to see and do in Atlanta. I had a vague idea of what to expect, and even though the place is not great...it somehow did not disappoint.
We got dropped off out front by our Uber, and it appears to be an abandoned hotel from the street; part of the charm, perhaps. Anyway, back down some steps and into the basement bar after paying a nominal cover, and there we were, instantly greeted by a cloud of smoke. If you do not react well to heavy cigarette smoke, you may want to reconsider your visit. We go in, and there's a semicircular bar in front where people dance, a stage to the left, and some seating further back. Drinks seemed cheap, though I don't think I had any. A lot of PBR here, on account of the hipster clientele. There was a rock band playing, and they were good but VERY LOUD. The next band wasn't any different in that respect.
