Saturday was my first visit to Mario’s – and not my last. The club is easy to find, about 15 minutes off the Mass. Pike, in what appears to be a safe neighborhood. There’s a large and decently-lit parking lot. Entrance was $10.00, but there’s a coupon on the club’s web site. One enters directly into the main room. The bar is to the right; the C-shaped stage to the left. The room is much more brightly lit than many clubs, which I don’t mind – there are a couple of places I frequent (alas that I so blithely use that word!) where on some nights you can barely see the dancers. Because the bar, entrance, stage, kitchen, trolling area for off-stage dancers, and corridor to the restrooms (clean, by the way) are all on top of one another, the room can seem crowded even when there aren’t that many customers. To the right of the bar there’s the entrance to the champagne room, which, because there was a bachelor party in it, I didn’t see. Beyond the stage area is table seating, much less hectic than the area in the front of the club. Further back is the surprisingly large VIP room, with soft lighting and spacious chairs – one of the most attractive and comfortable such rooms I know.

Even early in the evening, there were a lot of girls around, and the numbers increased as the evening progressed. There were two girls on the stage at a time, doing very short sets – three songs, I think. Dollar dances were brief but up close. Pretty much everyone was attractive, with several stunners around – although to my taste, the most gorgeous girl in the room was doing shots and back rubs, and was unavailable for dances.

Lots of offers for private dances, yet not unduly high pressure. (There was one exception to that – a dancer who wasn’t my type, but who simply didn’t want to take a polite “no thanks” for an answer.) For entrance to the VIP room, one must purchase a paper bracelet from a waitress for five bucks. It’s good for the whole evening, but for God’s sake, don’t make the mistake I did and wear it home where your wife will ask about it. I had four PDs, one of which was pretty good, two as good one-way grinds as you’re likely to get in Mass., and the last of which was superlative. Bouncer presence was visible but unobtrusive. Respect the girls and the rules and you should have a very good time here.
