2 owner's later...they still can't capture the magic like Vince.
This club likely has THE BEST location on Lexington. There are a group of clubs a bit further down New Circle Rd, but as one gets further down the road they get further into the unsavory parts of Lexington, and the other "upscale" club in Fayette Co. truely is in...the county. So the newest owners 1101 E.New Circle road are blessed with a great spot that has a larger than average seating capacity for a town such as Lexington. The "make-over/facelift" that came along with the changing of the guard provided several amenities unique to the area. While the hot-tub they installed is not the first to be seen in a strip club in Lexington, it had been years since the first one was removed at what is now the Spearmint Rhino. It is worth noting that these guys are utilizing the hot tub in a much more patron friendly way. Guests are now issued a pair of swim trunks and allowed to actually get into the water whereas the original hot-tub room at the former Pure Gold (now Spearmint) only permitted guests to dangle their feer in the water while the entertainers performed in the tub. I never purchased a hottub room at the old Pure Gold, so I lack a frame of reference on pricing, but I do know its at leastan $800 experience at Platinum Dolls. In addition to the hot-tub room, 2 other high end VIP rooms were added to service groups from 2 to probably 10 comfortably. These additions are without a doubt the nicest vip rooms in town, and they carry price tags to match. Alongside the improvements in the facility itself, the high-end beverage options have increased as well with a multitude of ultra-top shelf bourbons adorning the displays behind the bar. The addition of more flat-screen tv's make this an excellent place to watch sporting events although they seem more focused on showing rap videos than anything.
Building on the previous owners re-allocation of a section of the room dedicated to private vip dance booths, the new owners no longer require a champagne purchase to enjoy time in one of the VIP booths, and also offer time in smaller than average increments (15 min VIP rooms? Heck maybe 5 or 10 min too). The "traditional" couch room is still available, but these owners put a few new twists in the equation. For example, I was charged 3 different prices for dances, and it seemed more like a negotiation than anything. Having to pay an entrance fee to enter the couchroom was new to me as well. I know other clubs build that tax into the price of the dance, but it seems here that if a patron pays the entrance fee the club could care less if the girl did dances for a dollar apiece. That would be neat, except the host manning the entrance starts being a pest after the 4th song you spend in the couch room. They begin the hard sell on upgrading to VIP. This to me is where these owners are making a mistake. Ive been coming to this club for the last 10 years, and have watched it evolve from a locally owned mom n pop style club with a level of quality in terms of entertainers that rivaled any club in the country, to an out of state owned mini-chain club specializing in quantity over quality, to the club it has become now, somewhere in the middle. No one as of yet has been able to fill the room with the caliber entertainers youd see here on any given night around 2000. The owner then understood the market better I believe. Not everyone is a VIP. The best scenario for Lexington is one that manages to cater to the blue collar guy as well as the upscale business traveler. There will always be guests that reject VIP service simply on the grounds that its VIP and to them VIP translates to Very Inflated Pricing. From my few visits here since the change-over, I've noticed many guests come and go without ever setting foot in the couch room. I remember the days when 20 bucks would get you a song in the couch room...as many as you wanted...at 20 bucks apiece. At those rates a guy can buy his buddy a dance on his bachelor party. Judging from what I've observed, the new guys consider that money too petty. That's a shame, it's a nice club, and its location makes it far less of a head-ache to visit in terms of having to worry about drinking then driving or catching a cab. The quality of entertainers has improved since Platinum Plus sold out, but is still far beneath the preceedant set during the Solid Platinum years. The club doesnt seem to book feauture entertainers or host special events nearly like it used to...I'm certain thats of little importance to many, who mainly want to know about mileage in the couch/VIP rooms. To answer that, I'd say like most clubs it varies from girl to girl you have zero control over that, but you do have control over WHERE in the building you choose to spend time with your favorite girl...obviously the hot tub is going to be a more intimate experience...but know in advance theres not an inch of the building where you won't be on camera.
