sinclair's Review
I went to Gunner’s Bar on a Saturday night and stayed for a couple hours. The club is right off of Wisconsin 35, just a mile north of the town of De Soto. The railroad track is on the west side of the road and Gunner’s Bar and a campground will be on the east side of the road. The address listed on TUSCL currently is incorrect, but I was unable to verify the correct address on my visit. The club is a giant wooden ranch building with all of its windows blocked out and has a large outdoor patio with a stage.
The cover charge was $5. There is no dress code. Cans of domestic beer were $3. Cans of soda were $2. Half of the club is a bar, and the other half is the stage area. The large peninsula stage is located a few steps below the bar area and has two spinning poles. A tip rail that you sit at on stools surrounds the stage. You can use your cell phone in the bar area, but cannot use it in the stage area. There is a small indoor smoking room near the entrance. The bathrooms were fairly clean. The female DJ played a mix of everything: pop, rock, country, hip hop.
There were eight dancers working the Saturday night shift. Four were Caucasian, three were African-American, and one was Mexican. It seemed like the rotation got going around 19:30. Dancers would do three song sets on stage, and then rotate.
