I was on a road trip back home to SoCal, part of which involved driving from Ventura County down to San Diego, where I had a limited amount of time for a pit stop. With the limited time, I couldn't really hit a bunch of clubs in LA on the way, so I did some research beforehand, mainly trying to avoid someplace with a lame day shift. The downtown branch of Spearmint Rhino looked like a pretty good option with the number of girls they had on their day shift roll calls and the $100/15min VIP + no cover for day shift on Wednesdays, and that idea pretty much held out in real life.

The club is a Rhino, so it's nice. The only other one I've been to is Van Nuys, and this seemed a little smaller, but not by much and it might have been the layout. You come in through sort of a narrow hall after stopping at the front desk - the men's room is sort of a u-turn to the left, the bar is immediately to your left, and there are a bunch of dance booths on the right. Beyond the bar is what I'm guessing is the single song dance area, but I didn't go in there this trip. Front and center is the stage, surrounded by a tip rail and a couple rows of seating - club chairs in front and banquettes beyond. There's a decently sized parking lot, and there's supposedly valet parking, and while I didn't see a sign for it the spaces in the front lot are numbered. The club is in a pretty heavily industrial area in East LA where Olympic passes under the 10, and the area under the 10 freeway seems a bit sketchy, so valet might be something you want to do at night, but it seemed perfectly fine to park in the lot in the daytime.

Doorman said there were 8 dancers working when I came in around 1. There's no cover before 6, but you do have to pay the doorman for one $6 drink; you get a receipt and take it in to the bar for your drink. The dancers working were a pretty good mix. A couple white girls, a couple/few latinas, at least one Asian, and a couple AA girls. Since my time was limited, I didn't hang around to see the whole lineup. Also a pretty good mix of body types - a couple willowy natural girls, a couple athletic girls with implants, etc. I think the only type of girl I didn't see was a blonde, but that's not a problem for me. Girls were mostly pretty attractive - 6 or 7 at the bottom end, one asian girl that might push 9 or 10; didn't get the greatest look at all of the girls working but there wasn't anyone I'd run from.
