Nice luineup
The weekend lineup at Mpire is usually pretty nice. But whether the club will attract a lot of customers is hit or miss. I think M St., where the club is located, is undergoing a significant change in terms of the types of people on the street and the street's bar patrons. It is now almost entirely dominated by rowdy young teenagers who frequent the Ozio nightclub. There were two police SUVs permanently parked outside Ozios. The street was filled with these kids in all directions. For Mpire, this can't be good. I did not feel safe on the street because it appeared as if these kids could break out in a fight at any moment.
In the past, the street was filled with well to do students from nearby Georgetown and George Washington Universities, but they are now no where to be seen. I can't see the type of customers Mpire wants to cater to, i.e., professionals or wealthy students, making their way though this street den to enter the club. Plus I think customers are turned off by their policy of scanning drivers licenses before you can enter.
I still enjoy the music at Mpire. It is mostly electronic club dance music. Camelot plays loud gangster rap music almost all the time now, which fits the teenage street cowed outside. But it leaves me with a headache.
