A Slow Monday Night
Maybe Mondays are to be expected like this. A handful of dancers who parted from their regulars at the bar only long enough to do their obligatory turn on a small, dimly lit stage with hardly anyone watching them, while a second, larger stage and seating area remained vacant.
But then, in walked two dancers starting their career there that very night. Since they had no regulars, I had the opportunity to meet one of them. Being new there myself, I asked her to show me how one gets a dance, as I could only see a doorway in the back into which some couples would enter or exit.
Turns out there is a separate dance area with a separate sound system. Dances are prepaid to a cashier; not sure what happens if there is an interest in extending the entertainment later. This arrangement did not appeal to me, so I was soon back in the main area still chatting with a friendly, cute new dancer.
