First time at Jimmy's and it...
First time at Jimmy's and it will probably be my last time. This club was just not for me. I had a great time at the all black clubs in Washington Park (see my reviews), but the atmosphere here seemed like the bouncers were on edge just waiting for something to happen. As those clubs down south were more laid back and all about partying, Jimmy's felt like a poor mans gangsta rap video.
The parking lot was packed and there were guys walking in and out. I had just come from an empty IS in Hammond and felt better seeing actual customers coming and going. I opened the door and stepped right into an argument between a bouncer and a customer. Seems the ID the customer presented wasn't good enough for the bouncer, he wanted a second form. They went back and forth for a little before the guy left cursing. Not a good first impression. Whenever I see such ID scrutinization at a club it usually speak badly about that establishments customers. Nevertheless, I paid my $5 cover and went in.
The rap music was so loud that people were practically yelling at each other just to be heard. Unlike some of the black clubs in southern Illinois, there were a few young and old white customers here. There was only one thick white dancer, the rest were all black. I sat at the bar and ordered a $4 Miller Lite bottle. The bartender was a nice looking black girl who had all her attention on the guy next to me. When I saw that he was having drinks with a dancer seated next to him, I knew why. The poor fool thought he was 2 Chainz, buying the dancer several shots while talking about how big he was. The bartender laughed, as she poured shot after shot for him and the dancer. Beware of the hustle factor here.
