Flashers
Flashers is a dive, but I had an enjoyable early visit this past Friday. I arrived about 6:30 p.m. The parking lot is oddly shaped, cramped, and potholed, but free. The run down building looks like it used to be a Greek or Italian restaurant. There is an area in front that looks like a patio (outdoor seating when it was a restaurant?) with steps on either side and several doors. The neon “open” sign was in this area, so I went up the steps with rickety looking handrails and found all of the doors were locked. WTF? I walked around and found the entrance was on the left side of the building in the alleyway next to the neighboring property.
The cover charge was $15, taken by a heavily tattooed door girl. This is the highest cover I have ever paid in the Atlanta area. I’m not sure why it is so high because this is clearly not a top tier, or even second tier type of place. Actually, I guess I do know why: because people pay it, like I did.
Inside the place is as run down looking as the outside. There is a runway stage immediately to the right. The bar is against the back wall, and there is a second stage running parallel to the bar, perpendicular to the main runway stage. There is plenty of table seating scattered around on either side of the runway stage. A chunky girl in a black body suit was dancing on the main stage. No one was on the bar stage. I sat at the bar and ordered a beer, which cost me $5.
