I was in Toronto on business and decided to checkout the local scene. I didn't feel like driving outside the city so I stuck to the downtown area. Zanzibar had high marks so I figured I'd give it a try. The club is easy enough to find and looks exactly as you'd expect a club to look from the outside. I was hassled by some locals (looked to be drug dealers) outside the door but it was late in downtown Toronto so I wasn't surprised. Door man inside was of Eastern European decent and was a cool dude. He told me he hadn't been working there long as we chatted for a few minutes. I don't recall paying a cover but if I did it wasn't more than a couple bucks. My only gripe about this club is they apparently have a strict dress code. They made me remove my hat which totally caught me off guard. Anyway, the inside of the club is average, nothing really fancy about it and it was fairly clean. Once I got inside and settled I grabbed a seat across from the stage. The club is not very wide but it's fairly deep with the bar on your right as you enter and the stage behind it centered along that same wall. The club appears to have three floors as the bathroom is in the basement and I'm assuming the private dance area is upstairs. I didn't get any private dances this visit so I can't comment on that area. I stayed for a little over an hour and service from the bar was quick and relatively cheap. I took advantage of the favorable exchange rate and drank a handful of of the cheap Canadian beers. Overall during my visit I saw around 9-10 girls working. Most of them were in the 6-7 range with one or two outliers on the low end and one or two on the high end. I saw every girl working that night up on stage and as other reviewers have mentioned, the stage shows are somewhat mundane with little real effort on the part of the dancers. I was approached and asked about private dances by most of the girls working that night but I declined as two girls I saw on stage that I would have been interested in taking for a private dance never came around (I didn't walk around the club much but I'm assuming they were busy with regulars). Anyway, after I finished my third or fourth beer and gave up on getting a dance from one of the two girls I had my eye on, I decided I'd seen enough and called it a night. I had a good time and I'd be willing to give this club another try if I'm ever in Toronto on business again but overall I was a bit disappointed with this visit. Regardless, it was nice to hang out in a club for an hour or so considering I can't do it back home!
