Checked It Out As a Potential Work Place
Several of my friends from my home club in downtown have migrated to The Fold due to the ridiculous competition during Tigers season and swear by this place, so I went in to check it out first. One of my college friends was my "male escort" to get into the bar. We paid $2 for cover (the door guy said couples get in for free here, so we played it off). We sat at a table close to the stage and ordered Red Bulls at $9 each. The waitress never came back over during our stay at the club. None of my friends from my home club were working this particular evening, but I did run into another friend who teaches at a local pole fitness studio. I hadn't seen her in over a year, so we were both really happy to run into each other. Dancing under the stage name Catalina, she also vouched for the club.
The Fold has recently removed its walls in VIP to create one large VIP room with chairs. When girls were upstairs dancing, I could see some of what was going on, all of which looked like grind dances. Catalina informed me that only two night shift girls "do stuff" which is, at worst, hand jobs in VIP. Otherwise, everyone is trying to keep it a clean place. I was also told the bar recently became non-smoking, so another plus for me as a non-smoker.
We stayed for one full stage rotation. We counted 9 girls working, all of which seemed to be in rather healthy shape (I've heard of this place being known as a "bigger girl" bar). Only one blonde girl was "big boned" with the best resting bitch face I've ever seen. I was told heroin runs rampant in this club and two girls were clearly on something when they were on stage. Otherwise, my friend Catalina was the only one who actually put on a stage show with tricks and some sort of entertainment.
The stage is a rectangle in the middle of the club with 4 static poles at each corner. One of the poles is broke, so it does spin, but is not safe. Girls were up for 4 songs. The music is ALL rock.
The bar itself is tiny compared to my home club. There were two separate 6-tops sitting near the front with beer buckets covering the table. All twelve gentlemen looked to be very, very bored. Next to them was a 2-top and a 4-top. More very bored people. There were two tables of women hanging out. Apparently male escorts aren't required here after all. The girls on stage, even the stumblers, called customers up to tip them. I got the feeling that this is a high stage tipping club. Girls went around after their sets and hustled customers, but barely anybody went upstairs to the VIP.
