Sleep, Sleep, Sleep
After leaving BDs Saturday night (04/02), we went to Onyx. It was close, open late, and fits my friend's tastes more than BDs does. Free parking - which is almost a shock at a black club - and $20 cover. Oddly enough, one of the first things I noticed was that the main color of Onyx seems to be blue instead of black.
Club is just a big open space, really. More "wide" than it is "long", the main stage is toward the back with a really high pole and there are I think two satellite stages: one longer one closer to the front and a small one over to the right. Pool tables are to the right, where there's also a bar. The bar that I think is the main bar is to the left, along with the restrooms. I think there's a VIP section upstairs, but no one was up there. There's also a so-called private section in the front right corner where people can get LDs. My friend said it costs 20 to go back there, but you only pay it the first time you go and then they give you a wristband. You can also get dances in chairs or at tables.
Music is your garden variety current rap, and the ambience in general is that of most urban/black clubs: making it rain, loud-talking DJs, songs getting cut short on occasion (although he let a five-minute song run through completely, and then ran back the last verse).
