Okay, so I took a little solo vacation to San Diego and 99% of the reason I chose San Diego was to go to Tijuana and visit Hong Kong (the other 1% was... idk, warm California weather). Anyway, I'm not going to try to be as thorough as possible because I'll just end up repeating what everybody else has already said. Instead, I'll just give a brief description and air my own opinions.

Getting to Tijuana is easy, especially if you have a passport. Just take the San Diego Blue Line down to San Ysidro and you can find your way, just use google maps. Or, if you're going in the evening, just follow everybody else that gets off the Blue Line at San Ysidro because they're mostly all Mexicans going home. When you go USA-->Mexico you just show the border attendant your passport, answer the questions "why are you coming to Mexico?" and "how long will you be staying?" and voila, you're in. It is possible to use Google maps to guide you by foot to Hong Kong, it takes about 10-15 minutes from the border... although the initial stages of the guidance is not correct... it tried to take me somewhere and a bunch of Mexicans started yelling at me to go the other way. Basically, when you cross the border, you have to follow everybody else for about 5 minutes. After the first 4 or 5 minutes of walking you should find yourself going over a bridge which overlooks the highway. After getting over that bridge, Google maps should be sufficient. Alternatively, you can just accept one of the dozens of offers you will receive from dozens of Mexicans asking "Taxi?" "Taxi?" "TAXIII?"

The area surrounding Hong Kong is run down and dilapidated. Streets are dirty, potholes and garbage, etc. Streetwalkers soliciting your business. I found that if you just walk straight ahead like you know exactly where you're going, you will mostly be ignored. But once you get within 50 feet of Hong Kong, everything is nicer and it feels like you're arriving at any other nightclub. You approach the main entrance (which is just a curtain) and you get a pat down by the bouncer before you enter. FYI, don't bring a knife or any kind of weapon. Not that I did... I was just patted down and the guy felt something in my pocket and asked, "Knife?" and I said, "No No No!" and he let me in.
