Blue Moon in the Afternoon

I was recently driving through Phoenix and could not resist stopping at one of TUSCL’s iconic clubs for fun - Blue Moon Lounge. I had never been there before thought I should take in this infamous club. It was worth it.

It is fairly easy access off the 202 as I was heading west. The club was easy to find if you are paying attention. It is in a rundown part of Phoenix, but to me at least, it did not look dangerous. Things may be different after dark. Don’t park under the billboard, pigeons roost there and shit there.

I entered to a very dark club. The only club that I have been in that was as dark is the Cabaret in El Paso. It is dark for a good reason. It is a small club, with a fairly large stage. There are seats around the stage and small tables with chairs past the stage on two sides. Private dances are held in semicircular booths on the east and south side. There is no bar, the dancers come by and ask you what you want to drink. Being a nude club, it is nonalcoholic only and every soft drink costs $3. The dancer will sit and talk with you a bit while trying to convince you to have a dance with them. Some are more convincing than others, but if she doesn’t have her hand in your crotch while trying to convince you to get a dance, look for another dancer. They seem to take no pretty well.
