Desperate Mangos!
This place is in the middle of the run down part of Waikiki. You go upstairs and pay your $10 cover, then you go up another step or two to the stage. There were one or two un-enthusiastic dancers on the stage. The real hustle begins before your eyes can even adjust to the darkness. As soon as you sit down you're hounded by "wanna private dance?" There are a decent mix of white girls and Asians - - Chinese, Filipino, Vietnamese. Private dance quotes are $30-40-50 and done in a raised booth about the size of a telephone booth without a curtain. The burly bouncer comes around to check on what's going on. I saw some pathetic tourist types getting lap dances from girls who looked like crack addicts. I'm usually pretty ok in an environment like this and I appreciate and enjoy a good show, but this place is creepy. I have no idea for how far you can go in the not so private booths - it didn't look very appealing frankly and besides it's not my thing. Not sure how they pay their dancers, but their aggression in hustling dances borders on desperation. Maybe if management realized that they could sell more door fees and more dances if they cleaned up the place a little bit and reduced the hustle pressure of the girls who work there they'd get more of a crowd of guys looking to have a few beers and a good time, and less of a crowd of desperate guys looking for urgent relief from equally desperate dancers. I wont be back, sorry!
