Dancers have been upgraded

I hadn't been to Carl's for over a year. I always found it a good place to drop in late afternoon before the $5 cover charge kicks in. Beers are cheap. There is no "entertainment" per se. Rather there are just girls looking to sell you a dance. In the past, most of the girls were hispanic, and not all were that attractive. Since my last visit, however, there has been an upgrade in the quality of the dancers. Now, they are predominantly Eastern European. I was approached by a lovely Lithuanian woman, and also one from Czechoslovakia. Both would have been worth investing in if the dances got you anything, but they don't. The dance area is nothing but high tables along one wall, You sit on a bar stool, and the girl kind of rubs up against you. None of the dances I observed were even topless, and it didn't even look like guys were getting a good feel. For the dance prices I was quoted ($20 for one dance, $30 for two dances), it really didn't seem worth it.

On the plus side, the place has a nice casual feel to it. There are several pool tables and video games. There are a number of big screen TVs showing local sports. And you don't feel any pressure. Also, like I said, the beers are cheap - they always seem to have a $2 special.

So if you're not expecting a high intensity sexual encounter, and are tired of being hustled by glitzier high pressure clubs, Carls' is the place for you.
