Disappointing
It's a little hard to understand why this place is "world famous". I'd heard of it as such, and the sign proclaims it. It's in a decent neighborhood, right near a big box strip mall and two lights from I-275. Parking is free, with overflow available at the pizza place next door. (There was no sign, but everyone was doing it and the pizza place was closed, so I assume it's standard practice.) Mons Venus's own lot holds only about twelve cars, which will make sense once you get inside. That said, it was well lit and clean. Walking in, cover was $20, which is frankly absurd. I've been to clubs that are far more impressive and charge far less, in higher cost areas than Tampa. You do get a hand stamp that lets you come and go on a particular day, and it's black light ink so no worries about coming home to someone you wouldn't want to know where you'd been. The club is smaller than most new build convenience stores, dark and plain. There's a very large (proportionally) stage, but there was only one girl working it while I was there. There's a row of seats surrounding it, and couches strewn about the rest of the place. Music is provided by one of those bill-operated jukeboxes on the wall. It was playing exclusively hip-hop and was unpleasantly loud. Repeatedly, the music stopped and one of the dancers ran to the machine to put money in it like it was the first time it ever happened. During one of the awkwardly silences, the dancer on stage got into an argument with the manager that she'd been on stage for six songs and wanted off. The manager told her to keep dancing. The whole operation seemed rather unprofessional. As this is a nude club in Florida, it does not serve alcohol, only non-alcoholic beverages. I was informed after arriving that you can bring your own, and there was a gentleman out front selling beer. Smokers will need to go hang out with him or to the parking lot. Despite smoking being allowed in such establishments in Florida, it isn't here. That's no great imposition thanks to the hand stamp system. There were about eight customers in the place when I was there. It was about half couples. I'd also guess about eight dancers. Most were white, one black and one Latina. The average attractiveness level was about a four, with a couple of sixes, and one nine. Simone was her name, and she was honestly a delight. Very friendly, a great conversationalist, and a talented lap dancer. Lap dances are provided behind a chair-height wall along the back wall of the club. You face the mirrored back wall, which adds some interest. She offered four dances for $100, which I accepted. She expected an additional tip at the end, so I assume at least some of that goes to the club. You are allowed full contact with hands and mouth everywhere except between the legs. The question I resisted asking was what's a girl like you doing in a place like this? Finally, the bathroom, though clean, had two urinals and a toilet in a little room with no dividers between them at all. I'm not sure what you're supposed to do in there. All told, Mons Venus struck me like a very mediocre strip club in an isolated area, not a "world famous" club in a heavily visited major city known for them. I won't be returning.
