For my second tuscl-themed trip to tj, I decided to hit a few clubs in the area surrounding Hong Kong. All clubs with a fair number of reviews over the last year made it on my to-do-list. I figured that if my fellow pervs were posting reviews, the clubs must not be dead. In the case of Chicago, I was mistaken.

Chicago Club reminds me of the Tropicana hotel in Vegas. While technically on the strip, Tropicana was far enough away from the hubub to be completely irrelevant. The aging building and even more aged staff remain to give you a hint of its former luster. It might have been the shit 30+ years ago. Or, maybe it was always dead. Such it the case of Chicago Club when compared with the glare (literal and figurative) from Hong Kong and other clubs just half a block west.

The first thing I noticed on my way in was a portrait of Al Capone, the infamous mobster who ruled prohibition era Chicago, murdered untold numbers, went to prison for tax evasion, and died an irrelevant footnote from complications of syphallis. Perhaps the founders of Chicago Club glanced through the annuls of history and thought, "That who we should aspire to be." If the modern state of the Chicago Club were to draw a parallel to Capone's life, it would certain be in reference to the man's later years.
