First Nude Club Experience

Was out in Ann Arbor on Wednesday, Nov. 11th with friends when I jokingly suggested we go to Deja Vu in Ypsi. I am a dancer at Bouzouki in Detroit, but my friends don't know what I do, so I played stupid the entire time. The club has a marquee outside of it that makes it look like a theatre with off street parking that was free after 6pm. We entered the building and came into a large lobby where a bouncer was checking IDs and collecting entrance money. It looked like there was a store of some sort at one point because hangers were laying on the floor everywhere to the side and behind him. The door fee was $12 each. The great thing I appreciated was the bouncer went over all of the rules, phone usages, prices, etc. This is the first club I've visited where you're presented of the Do's and Don'ts before paying.

We walked down a hallway toward the main room. We first saw the bar. Tiny space and only energy drinks and soda options. To the right was the rest of the room. The chairs were red plush and circular tables. After sitting, the only waitress that night brought us some popcorn (wtf?). The club has a movie viewing set up. The stage had a tip rail that was waist high to prevent touching the downstairs parts, which I thought was an awesome idea. There were two static 50mm stainless steel poles in the main stage area. To the right of that was another stage above the crowd. This was my first time visiting a nude club, so I was intrigued by how the performers remove their bottoms in a graceful way.

An AA dancer named Hawaii came up to our group first. She sat with one of my friends and they chatted it up. Another dancer, Aurora came by. She seemed rather nervous, so I chatted with her. It was her third day. She asked if I was there for amateur night. I had no clue it was amateur night! If I hadn't been with my friends, I would have surely taken part. Another dancer, Whiskey, came over and chatted with my other friend. Whiskey and Hawaii were able to get my two friends for dances. Aurora stayed and chatted some more and she told me more about the club from a dancer's perspective.

Two girls showed up for amateur night, both blondes. One was Riley, and the other's name I forgot. Both looked like they came from 8 Mile clubs and were obviously not "amateurs". The amateur audition thing was kind of stupid. Prancing around between the two poles for two songs. I thought it was boring. The winner took home $300 though. Both girls were offered to work at the club beginning that weekend.
