I went to The Den about midnight on a Friday night. This place is a pain in the ass to get into because you can only enter and exit using the northbound lane of NJ 35. The cover was $10. The bouncer was not watching the door, so I almost walked in and sat down without paying it. The club is all nude and a juice bar. Your options for drinks are pretty much a bottle of water, soda, coffee, or Gatorade. The bartender gave me Coke’s for free out of a fountain gun, but was charging guys $5 for Costco bottles of water. I am not sure if this is standard or she was cutting me a break. Regardless, I tipped the big butt Puerto Rican a few bucks each time she filled up my plastic cup. The stage is a long runway with two poles: one on each end. While the club is nude, some dancers refused to take their bottoms off unless they were being tipped well.

Dancer quality was all over the place from a 1 through a 9. There were a dozen dancers working from what I counted. Ethnicity-wise this place was like a cookie jar: a couple chocolates, some macadamia Caucasians, an oatmeal raisin Asian, a butter pecan Puerto Rican, a Milano Italiano, and two Oreos. There were women from their 20’s to a pair of 40 year olds that every guy in there was avoiding like they had the Black Plague. A couple of the white dancers appeared to be either Russian or Ukrainian. Three dancers would go on stage at once. They would dance for three songs, and then another group would take the stage. The stage energy was lackluster, but then again, a lot of the guys appeared to be pretty cheap. The uglier dancers did a tip walk after leaving the stage. Some of the better looking ones did not pull this hustle. Lap dances are $20 per dance in a community room. Songs are supposedly four minutes in length. A fifteen minute VIP room is $100. A half hour VIP room is $180. Your mileage may vary.

I’d probably give this place a second go if I am in the area again. I’ve been to better clubs, and I’ve been to worse clubs. This place is just average.
