The Slower, The Better
For whatever reason, the customers were not visiting this night. All the more reason to stay: less smoke, less commotion, more available dancers, more space to dance, more privacy as a result. Too bad the DJ decided to keep the volume high even with less crowd noise, but the dance area away from the DJ was more tolerable.
Quite a mix of dancers -- younger, older, rookies, veterans; all ages, colors and sizes. Each one seemed to be on her own schedule -- someone arriving or leaving every 15-20 minutes. A few were in hustle mode or drunk, but most appeared to be very pleasant company.
The often-observed vibe change later in the evening occurred with the music but not so much with the customers. If the club had been crowded and smoky and noisy, I might have continued up the road, but the experience this night was a good one.
