My observations are the same as with most of the clubs I've been to: hotter girls at night, but better mileage in the afternoon. I recently visited Lace twice at night and once in the afternoon confirming that impression. The girls at night are absolutely smoking, are generally very friendly, and many give great lap dances, but going to the VIP (as I made the mistake of doing once) is a total rip-off unless you can afford to blow the money ($500/hr) just to get away from the crowd downstairs. The problem is that the VIP room itself is full on a busy night and that there is little privacy anyway. However, going in the afternoon is a different story. YMMV of course, but my afternoon VIP experience ($320/30 mins. or $440/hr) was on another level - we were the only ones in there, lights turned way down, nothing off limits. The price is still absurd but at least the mileage I received was a reward. I like the club a lot - go at night for the prettiest girls or in the afternoon for potential mileage. If you don't care about mileage, though, go to Flashdancers - the day shift there is prettier.
