Depressing

I've lived in the area for over twenty years and have been going to strip clubs almost that long, but I've never set foot in the raven, mainly due to its reputation. Normally, I visit clubs on off-days, Sunday thru Thursday. Had a hankering for a beer and some boobs on a friday, thought Risque would be too busy for my taste, so decided to see if the raven was better than its reputation. It wasn't.

I knew the place would stink of cigarettes and be dark to hide the dirt. It's so dark I could barely make out a dancer's features, just see her silhouette. This tricked me at first, thinking, the dancers here aren't that bad. Once they came around for tips and I could get a better view almost all of them made me recoil. What looked like a young woman when all I could see was a shadow, turned out to have a sickly pallor and pushing forty. They were friendly. I'll give them that, which makes me feel guilty about rating the dancers so low. I wasn't attracted to any of them, but none of them were mean and in fact quite friendly. It was made clear by more than one dancer that more than the standard dance would take place behind the curtains, if that's what I was looking for. I passed on getting any dances.

I wasn't bored. I was more sad and depressed by what I saw at the raven than anything. I stayed for an hour (10-11pm) to give it a fair shot on a friday night, but I had to leave. On the plus side, the drink prices were very reasonable, but I doubt I'll ever visit again. Too much of a dive for me.
