Shark Alert
Cheetah WPB was my lunch stop on a recent trip to South Florida. I'm a fan of Cheetah Pompano, and it had been a year or so since I visited the sister club in Wast Palm. The club is in good condition physically, with free parking and a $1.00 cover during the day. Inside, the main bar is a large open square with a stage in the middle; two other stages are to your right when you enter (along with a back bar which I didn't notice until I went to the Men's room). Club seating around two of the stages, tall tables and chairs on the perimeter of the main bar. At 12:30, most customers were around the main bar for the free lunch, which is a real value. Domestic beer was $4.
The dancers on day shift are OK, a bit older and less fit than Cheetah Pompano; for the most part, in the 5-7 range. Ethnically, no AA dancers were working. There were a few Latinas in the mix. What the dancers lacked in appearance they made up for in aggressiveness. I had two dancers approach before I had a drink in front of me, and frankly the pestering never stopped. One sales pitch for friction dances after another, all without me expressing the least bit of interest. I guess if you're homely but need to make money for the babysitter, you'll join the competition. I had a few dances in the back (a fairly open, well-lit room); OK mileage, nothing special. The mediocre talent and overt hustle (versus the far-superior Cheetah Pompano customer experience) would up being a turn-off, and I bolted after one beer.
Looks like another WPB club is off my lunch list--Spearmint Rhino has been a ghost town, and Monroe's doesn't open until 2:00.
