Thanks, again, Motor City
This was my first time at a Detroit club during the week, and it was great. I don't think I'll ever go to another Detroit club on the weekend if at all avoidable. Anyway, the roads leading up to the Landing Strip are under construction. I swear it's so they can force you to pay the seven dollar valet fee plus tip. Cover that night was ten dollars, and the beers were on sale: $7.75 for a bottle; $30 buckets. About a dozen dancers (half white, half black and latina) worked the showroom that night, and there were around the same number of patrons as well. Numbers were definitely in my favor.
The club is very well kept. The chairs were comfortable, and the main stage is shaped like an airplane—a throwback to the club's name and proximity to the airport, which is great for a business flyer like myself. I don't feel that it's necessary to visit 8 mile when there's plenty of nearby options. The women don't make the rounds, which is unfortunate. And the men that they sit with are regulars with whom they will spend the entire night sitting and talking with. The drink servers come by every fifteen minutes or so, and unfortuately the bikini-clad dame I was chatting up drank like a fish. I didn't mind, though, as I was mentally calculating the bill she was running up; it only came up to about a dollar a minute, and she was fun to talk to.
The pole dances took place on the second/main floor, and the private dances are in the basement. Every half hour to an hour, they do a showcase, where all the entertainers working that night catwalk the main stage topless. Even the ones doing privates downstairs come up during that time. So plan your VIP accordingly. VIP dances are $25 per song or whatever you negotiate with the girl. I spent way more than I usually do for the ultra high mileage stuff that night, but she did not disappoint, and I wasn't particularly interested in any of the other girls. I think she caught on to that.
