sinclair's Review
I went to Art’s Performing Center on a Thursday night around 8:30pm. Art’s is a dive bar that is smack dab in the middle of the bar district. I was assessed a $5 cover charge at the door. A bottle of domestic beer was $4, and the bartenders were very plain-looking. The inside is basically one big room. The bar is on the left. The stage is on the right. The stage has a pole and has some brass bars around the bottom, which prevent tippers from getting any contact. The rest of the place is tables, chairs, and stools. The bathroom was nasty because it smelled bad and there was piss all over the floor.
There were nine dancers working. There was one dancer that would qualify as a 7.5, but otherwise, the Thursday night roster was composed of 6’s and below. Considering there was an event at the Bradley Center this evening, you would have expected there might have been some better looking dancers working to take advantage of the crowds. This was not the case. Shania, a mixed girl, had the best body. Brazil and Natasha could have been a “go” after a few drinks. Most dancers’ stage shows were uninspiring, but that might have been because the stage was small and there were bars along the bottom of the stage. The most contact you get at the stage is sliding dollars between a dancer's boobs or into her g-string. Lap dances take place in a community room with couches in an alcove of the bar. There is a silky curtain around it, but it provides no privacy from the rest of the bar. Anybody can see what is going on, including the bouncer. Lap dances are $20 each and appeared to only be one-way contact. For what it’s worth, I did hear one PL negotiating OTC with a dancer at the bar.
I dropped about $28 in a little over an hour which included two Budweiser’s, the cover, and stage tips. Dancers will do the tip walk here, but it seemed a few times I was able to avoid tipping a few dancers when they bolted to their regular’s right after getting off stage. I do not think I will return to this dive bar anytime soon. You would think a strip club with a monopoly in a city’s downtown entertainment district would be more upscale and have better looking talent. You can see hotter women and get more contact at the Water Street/downtown drinking establishments.
