Surprisingly great night at Al’s. I’ve been a fan of this club for a long time. I get there every six months or so, frankly when I’m in the mood to see some beautiful naked women. There is generally a very good range of dancers, and the layout of the club is conducive: a long stage with two poles juts out through the center of the room. Patrons can sit close around the stage or on barstools a few steps back. After performing on stage, dancers make the rounds of the barstool seating area, dancing topless for tips from individuals seated there. There are two full bars, and there is bar service around the stage. Dancers typically do three songs each: the first in lingerie/bikini, the second topless, the third all nude.

Tonight was a Wednesday in August—truly an off night—and I got there rather early, around 9 pm. There were only three dancers, and I was actually the only customer seated around the stage—the only time that’s ever happened to me (awkward!!). I had that sinking feeling when I entered: “Fuck, I just paid the cover and walked in, and there is NO ONE here…how do I make a graceful exit?” But I grabbed a drink from the bar and sat down. I watched and tipped the dancers, who were beautiful and gracious to me, and it was kind of cool that I could actually hear well enough to talk to them. I had a fabulous conversation with one of them, in fact—Tokyo. She is smart, interesting, evidently a good writer, exquisitely beautiful, and likes music. I had one of the best private dances with her that I’ve ever had…the kind you keep feeling for hours after you leave the club.

Ultimately, this was a surprisingly awesome night, something I didn’t expect, given the circumstances when I entered.
