Good time in El Paso
Business travel took me to El Paso for one night. Based on the reviews, I decided to go to the Red Parrot for my one available evening. I was surprised at how far away from downtown it was, but it is on the freeway so not a big deal. Glad other reviewers mentioned to watch for the parrot sign or I would have gone right past it.
Arrived around 9PM and it was very quiet, I could only see about 4 or 5 other customers, all of whom were watching their phones or otherwise not participating. Several dancers came and went on stage with little or no tipping from the crowd. It was very dark on the stage, could barely see the dancers. they were all very attractive, but gave little effort to the dancing (probably since no one was watching anyway).
I got my $3 Tuesday Tecate and settled in. I always tip at the stage since it is unfair to the dancers not to. But one thing I noticed when I paid my cover is that they give all of the change in $2 bills. This is obviously a way to force you to increase your tips, which I thought was a bit obnoxious, but it's only a dollar so I wasn't going to complain. So I drank my beer and tipped each dancer one of my newly acquired $2 bills. Dancers were doing 2 song sets, first in clothes, second topless.
