Returning to St. Pete Beach
I was here for a family reunion. I decided to try it on the way out. My father skipped this one because he ended up having to burn the midnight oil on a proposal. The club is clean and small. With Tampa clubs it is best to leave well before closing as it gets too crowded, although I haven't noticed any thuggish behavior yet. I didn't notice the DJ or music on this visit. On this summertime visit it was kind of dead. If this happens you can always walk across the street, but I think that place may be declining. I skipped that and hit the road early. I had a half-off pass that I saved form a previous visit a long time ago. The dancer just gave it to me without me doing anything. Between dancers and bartenders I have received a lot of free passes and the like over the years. This is surprising because I don't really frequent any club. In any case, this prevented me from paying Tampa cover which is too high ($20). No alcohol is a problem, but you can get around by either drinking in your hotel room (75 yards away) and walking over. You can also park at Joe's Pizza, drink several beers there, and then walk over. Because Mons appears to be declining and 2001 is poaching their talent, I will probably hit here first when in town on business. Then walk across the street if need be. The dancers were still mostly White 7-8 range. The club is probably overall better than Mons most nights at this time.
