Meh. That's how I can best describe my visit to Climaxxx. It's a long, long way from the status it enjoyed in the 90s (when it was "the" hip hop strip club, the way KOD is now).
I got there slightly before 12. Parked for free in the reasonably well-lit parking lot across the street from the club on the south side. Went through the patdown - although he never checked my hands - and paid the $15 cover. It looked like a neighborhood spot: party vibe, plenty of civilian women. Didn't let it bother me since I saw 2-3 attractive girls as soon as I walked in.
Problem is I didn't see any others. I stayed by the pool tables for the first half-hour I was there, mostly because there wasn't a lot to look at and I don't dig stage shows. Oh: stage is directly in front of you and it's surrounded by a bar. The pool tables and another bar are to your left, The DJ booth, another bar, and the VIIP area are to your right (clockwise, respectively, from the back to you at the front). Music was pretty good: nothing was cut really early - maybe two songs were cut off at the last verse, but you'd have to know the songs to notice - and the DJ ran songs back quite often. That was a pleasant surprise. He didn't talk too much: all I remember him doing is shouting out all the black neighborhoods in Miami, talking about a prison story, and telling people to tip the stage.
