Beautiful club, beautiful women. I went there with my wife on a slower weekend while we were in town. With a name like 'Sports Saloon' I was picturing something more like a sports bar theme. While there was some of that and a few TV's, I was pleasantly surprised that they concentrated more on the upscale 'Saloon' aspect, and the quality and condition of the furnishings and décor were on a par with any of the other Rick's brand establishments I've been in. I had a couple bourbon and cokes, strip club pricy by at least made well. This would be a great place to come and chill with friends, except for the slow night there were almost too many women if you were looking to sit in peace. They were mostly white, but being New Orleans there is some ethnic variety mixed in, maybe 25%. With the lack of crowd I felt like a swimmer being circled by sharks. I like dancers to come up and talk to us, so I don't mind the hustle, but the vibe I got was that the dancers were hungry.
Dances are semi-open square room in the back, with benches on the wall on three sides and open in the front. My wife latched on to a majestic tall black lady, who gave a friendly dance to entertain the both of us. Dances are 40$, more than I'm used to but from what I've read not out of line in NOLA. She offered to go three for a $100. So I said what the hell...the next two "dances" lasted about 45 seconds total...I might be a drunk sucker tourist, but I don't get THAT drunk...I paid her off and we left.
There are enough other places on Bourbon Street to explore that I probably wouldn't go back given the hustle and the expense. On the other hand, If you are looking for a classy, high quality club and don't mind spending the bucks, I'm sure a good time can be had here. The club might be a good option on a really busy night where the other clubs are packed, I get the feeling that this one trails them in customer density.
