I dropped into the Cecil for a short visit and had a damn good time. The beer was cold and arrived quickly, $6.60 for a pint of quality dark. The DJ was okay and the songs between sets were good. The club is clean, the lighting is about perfect -- not too bright but not so dark you can't see your way to the restroom -- but it was uncomfortably warm by the stage.
The four dancers I saw do sets on stage were drop dead gorgeous, but the one house dancer who offered me a private dance was about a decade past her prime -- private dances here are all air anyway, so I didn't bother. One guy was tipping $5 bills and another was throwing $40-$60 on stage to each dancer, and neither one got anything more than the rest of us.
From reading reviews below I can see that a lot of tourists are ill prepared for the BC strip club experience; 3-4 song breaks between dancers, no tipping/bonus for tipping at the rail, nude plus alcohol but zero contact, different dancers on stage every week as they work the circuit. Granted it's very different from most of the States or Eastern Canada but us locals are used to it. Besides, we spend the breaks watching the hockey game.
