LD continues to be one of...

LD continues to be one of the most hard-to-figure clubs in Baltimore. They obviously spent some money a couple of years back making it a nice place (though there's a feeling of "we use Hustler Club's leftovers" about it).. Yet, something isn't working -- it simply has never been able to hang on to any real number of good looking girls. Part of the problem, probably, is competition from its own corporation -- the HC, despite major problems, has a nicer facility and more girls usually. But something else has to be going on -- I've NEVER been there when there has been more than 5 dancers, and while it is a small club, that's still way too few.

The good points are still good -- they often have quite attractive bartenders, and the drink costs are not out of line (in fact, if you don't want to drink a lot, it's a good deal). I hate the design -- the bar looks away from the stage, which means you have do some maneuvering to look at the stage, but that's minor. The LD area is fine -- it's the same as the Hustler, in that they are basically little soft benches with high sides on either side to give some privacy. The VIP rooms are actually pretty nice, if small -- comfortable sofas, and a real feeling of privacy (though I'm assuming there are cameras).

No, it's simply that there are usually not enough girls to make the trip worthwhile. Last time here, with some friends after the Orioles, and on a weekend, there were a total of 3 -- yep 3, dancers at what should have been a peak time. This usually includes on nice but past her prime girl who is the sole left over from when the bar was a real "block" bar; otherwise, it tends to be hit or miss. Probably 50-50 white and WOC; usually in pretty decent shape. LD is the perfect example of the bar where you might want to take a look. If there's someone worth seeing, it can be fun, given the club's interior and LD/VIP areas, but your chances of that are NOT good. For me, it depends on whether they charge a cover (it seems hit and miss); if they do, it's not worth even checking out; if free, take a look but don't expect much.
