Hmmm. This place is a "work in progress." Visited Chix/Industrial Strip two consecutive afternoons, Thursday and Friday. First, the name change which was rumored when I first visited six weeks ago appears almost complete. The large sign on Dix Avenue now reads, "Industrial Strip." There's an awning over the entrance that still reads "Chix on Dix," but that's it for the old brand. Personally, I'm a big fan of small, laid-back "hole in the wall" clubs like this. There's real potential--clean, well-maintained physical plant, friendly bartender, music at a level that permits conversation, decent lighting. What's lacking at the moment is consistency in the dancer department. On my Thursday (mid-afternoon) visit, there were five dancers, three of whom I would have been happy to hang out with. The next day, at about the same time, there was only one dancer who had bothered to show up for work. It was my good fortune that the one girl there on Friday had been the one I spent time with the day before, a tall, mellow AA girl who was excellent company at the bar and sensual in the LD booth. A few other customers came and went, but a strip club without strippers is pretty tedious. I will give the place another try on my next visit to Detroit. Like the previous reviewer stated, I really want to like this place. I'm convinced that they could build a steady business with more predictable dancer staffing.
