Went to DiCarlo's on a Tuesday night, which was probably a mistake—Tuesday nights anywhere generally suck. The club seems decent enough, and it probably would have been better were it closer to a weekend. Tonight, though, it was just a drag, and there were a few things I found off-putting enough to make me leave after only about 15 minutes there. First, there was a perfectly reasonable $10 cover charge, but when I gave the bouncer a twenty for it, he gave me a single ten back instead of ten singles. That's a rookie move, in my book. ALWAYS give the customer his change in singles so he's prepared to tip the dancers! Second, same problem at the bar: my drink cost $10, I paid with a twenty, and got a five and five singles back. In what universe is that adequate? Do they want their customers to tip the dancers, or not? I actually had to ask the bartender to give me change in singles. Again, rookie move! Third, there is but one girl dancing at a time at this club, and there is a barrier around the stage, positioning patrons about 4 feet back. The girls will come down once per song, step across this "moat," and dance for those seated on uncomfortable low stools for tips, but if they're topless at the time of these excursions, they pick up a pillow to cover their chests—obscuring precisely that which I want to see up close and personal. Maybe this tactic helps fend off the gropers out there, but a big mean-ass bouncer can serve the same function without detracting from the decent customer's experience. Fourth, bright lights behind the bar (especially the green one) are reflected in the mirror behind the stage, effectively blinding patrons seated there and making it more difficult to see and appreciate the beautiful girls dancing up there. All of these factors really drive patrons away from the stage and up to the bar or to the tables in the back, where they are more approachable by dancers soliciting bikini table dances or lap dances. Not what I wanted! I'm not generally interested in a lap dance at a strip club unless I'm feeling flush and I find one of the dancers to be particularly attractive and to my taste. What I prefer is to sit around the stage and watch beautiful girls strip and dance for me, and I tip generously for their efforts. DiCarlo's just doesn't give me access to the stage, so it is not a place I can ever imagine returning to. Total bust tonight. I do not recommend this club.
