The Pony looked to be the best bet for a quality strip club for my visit to the greater Huntsville area, and it was, depending how you look at it. It was fairly easy access from the highway and there was very little chance even a visitor like me could get lost. The parking lot was spacious and decently lit, and the building inviting from the outside. Security included an ID check and pat-down before entry. This Tuesday evening the cover was $4. For some reason the check-in girl also had a cooler selling bottled beer (also $4) and made a point to say it was the same selection as the main bar. The club itself is well laid out, with the lower level containing the main stage and seating and a half level above with a second stage for busier evenings, according to a dancer. At 8pm there were only two other customers and as a result none of the half-dozen or so girls were bothering to do a floor stage. Modelos were on sale for happy hour (9pm) for only $3, so I had a few while waiting for the show to start. Eventually it did, and tattoos aside the girls were all well-built and athletic, putting effort into their floor shows. However, do not expect them to approach you: in my two hours only the most homely girl bothered to give me the time of day, despite per diem burning a hole in my pocket. Smoking is permitted here, and while not overwhelming do expect to go home smelling like a bar. Despite the cold shoulder I stuck it out until 10, when I switched to a soft drink (driving) and got charged $4 for a can of pop! Even with the decent beer prices I'm not willing to be gouged like that. I made a "what gives" sign to the girl I had been tipping at the main stage who was too busy with her septuagenarians (regulars?) to give me any attention and went my merry way. The Pony isn't the only game in town, let's hope there's something better to be had.
