A long time ago (last Saturday), in a place far far away (Rt 19, Clearwater), a visit to OZ was had. My last visit was much longer ago (around 10 years), and it appears that in that time, management and decor has had a refresh. Arriving at OZ on a Saturday late night was a bit of an experience, as the parking lot was packed, and they were grilling hot dogs and showcasing a few of the dancers (clothed) outside. After navigating the crowds outside, my friend and I headed in to something we couldn't have expected- a reasonable cover charge, and a room "filled" to the brim with people. The best way to visualize it is a "dance club" atmosphere, fully illuminated, filled with mostly 20 - 40 somethings, and barely clothed dancers (almost seemed like a music video was being filmed). Unfortunately, the ratio was at least 7:1 (patrons:waitresses/dancers), so it was a bit of a challenge even getting a drink. I gave up on the drink idea after multiple passes by waitresses and no joy, so I can't comment on the cost/value.
The dancers were an entirely different story- most every dancer on staff that night was at least an 8. Throughout our visit, most would cycle through the 4 stages (3 primary, 1 corner offset), get approached by an onlooker, and disappear into the back room. While we were there, private dances were $35, and were very close and personal. They did offer a 2 for 1 special, which my buddy and I took advantage of.
All in all, a very fun experience. A visit on an alternative night may be encouraged, especially if you get claustrophobic around crowds.
