On a trip to Phoenix about...

On a trip to Phoenix about a month ago I visited Les Girls again, and I am sorry to report that this club has gone downhill. I have been here a few times before (even one time with my wife on my birthday) and I always thought it was a pretty classy place for Arizona (southwest clubs are dumpy in general; I should know, I live in New Mexico), but the format has really changed. First, I was here on a Friday evening and the place was half empty, and most of the customers were college kids or butch lesbians. Very weird. I was the only customer in the entire VIP area. The lighting was darker and creepier. They have TVs around the stage now, and every 15 minutes or so the very obnoxious DJ (less variety in the music now) would stop playing songs and run an excerpt from a movie clip or an obnoxious show like South Park (jeez, I can watch TV at home for free). Not near as many attractive dancers as previously. Finally, there was the old rip-off scam: a young skinny dancer tried to overcharge me ($40) on my first dance. I complained to the doorman, and the manager finally came over and apologized. To their credit, they did try to make things right and let me have a couple of dances and drinks on the house. But it really put a damper on things, and unless they change the format and atmosphere back to more like it was before, I doubt if I will ever return.
