BJ’s continues to be my home...
BJ’s continues to be my home away from home, thank God.
My fears that the owners of the place are close to selling the joint (mostly for the liquor license) has been allayed. Barring the unforeseen, this place will be around. In fact, they invested in infrastructure the past couple years. The TVs have gone from old style to flat-screen. They added another small TV for those who sit in the tables lining the back row, aka the place where the strippers give lap dances. And there is a brand-new jukebox. No more CDs, the playlist is fully digital and electronically updated. Those are not the changes of a club that’s about to shut down.
The girls there remain the most underrated part of BJ’s. Yes, there are a lot of strippers that are in their forties, and there are some that may not pass muster in the classiest places downtown. But there are a lot – and I mean a lot – of babes there that stand up to the hottest at the Seville Club or the King of Diamonds. And they might be smarter, too; the strippers here pay a low one-shift fee, so they probably realized there is a place where they don’t have to give a percentage of their dances to the bouncers and the DJ and the coat check girl to the point where they’re leaving work with peanuts. Hot and savvy – not the worst combination to find in an exotic dancer who is probably able to carry a conversation.
