This is actually a review from a former dancer who applied for a job. The female bartender was less than helpful; said that I had to "audition" for the day manager and that I would have to come back. There was only two other dancers on shift; one very young pasty, white girl with HUGE boobs, which was her single asset as she had no clue how to dance.; the other a very pretty and petite black girl who seemed very angry and never smiled. I never saw her dance. When asked if I could dance a set thinking perhaps I could get on without the the formal "audition" which is somewhat of a joke to begin with, she shrugged and agreed as long as the other dancers didn't mind. I danced two songs on a miniscule "stage" with no rails, absolutely nothing to work with, in front of a total of about customers. I made $36 the first song and another $25 the next. I am a former dancer of 15 years, prefer the "bikini" clubs as I was raised on "The Fine Line" on south Seneca, the ABSOLUTE BEST dancer club Wichita has ever had. Best and prettiest girls, they could actually dance as well as perform,.....no selling "dancer drinks" (shoot the guy who thought those up...in the face!) Table dance were 5 or 10 bucks, and you got what you paid for. Talent and class. So, after my set and enthusiastic reaction from customers, the bartender was still very disinterested in providing me any assistance whatsoever. The place had old red shag carpet from what I could discern in the overly dark lighting. Made me afraid to know what might be on the floor. I felt they cared nothing for building a respectable business; catered NOT to the customers sensibilities; had no quality, talent, or level of standard regarding class, beauty, or really anything. Was dumbfounded that I wasn't hired on the spot to be truthful. Was told to "come back tomorrow, the hiring manager should be in around 2pm". REALLY! Needless to say, didn't go back.....My review simplified.......Too dark, Lack of talent and class regarding dancers......Asking for tips which has become the norm shows desperation and a COMPLETE lack of class. Dancer drinks are lame and demeaning to both dancer and customer..........Lack of motivation and care about level of service and clientele. Makes for a dirty, low-class establishment that you wouldn't want most people to know you frequented, let alone invite someone to accompany you to. The kind of place that perverts sit in the dark and masturbate under the table. So dark nobody would notice. Am older now and would consider dancing again, just for the memories and because I love doing it. From the ad I saw in Street Beet magazine, even in my 40's now, I can still blow away their featured girl of the month. She was average, lacked sex appeal, and I believe she has a mustache! Not kidding. Anyway, you can't buy sensuality and what really makes a great dancer......it's in your blood. The management of a place open as long as Red Garter has been, should recognize the "bread and butter" for their own financial plates.........obviously they don't really need the money?? It's a pit and a disgrace and would work there on the down, down low. Fake name would be 100% necessary, though never used one in the past.
