There have been no reviews of this club since my last one several months ago. I go to this club frequently to chat with some favorites on the staff. I continue to think this club has some of the best looking dancers in the city. However, most of the time, it seems to be slow with only a few customers. Other times it's crowded such as weekend nights. There seems to be a lot of turnover and just today they made a big announcement on their Facebook page that they are hiring for all positions. In my opinion, I think the club suffers from trying to be too upscale and also perhaps from the layout. The layout is different from most other clubs in the city because of how small it is. That is good, in a sense, because it gives the experience a more intimate feel; you are very close to the stage. On the other hand the layout is not comfortable for groups and even for sitting with a dancer and chatting.
There is just one long bench on one side, with small tables. It's too small for groups to crowd around the table, so everyone sits on one side making it awkward to have a conversion if there are more than two or three in the group. The layout also forces groups to sit close to other patrons. It may be that many diehard club visitors would prefer the layout in Camelot and Archibalds and don't come back to Mpire.
With DC rules against lap dancing, most of the money the dancers get will be from regular repeat customers, so the lack of a more private area to chat and drink may be a turnoff. I heard they may be trying to expand dancing to other parts of the club, such as a rooftop area, but have not seen any construction permits for that.
