It was time to check out...

It was time to check out the new club in Pompano - this club was formerly run as Pink Pony and closed after a short run. The club was just recently re-opened as Crazy Horse. I arrived at the club at approximately 3PM on a Sunday. I heard a radio advertisement that they were running the NCAA Finals games and some specials. I got there right after the games ended hoping they may have a crowd and thus a decent line up of dancers. The club is right off the strip club drag of Powerline Rd - but is set way back in a commercial area. This was always the main issue when it was Pink Pony - even if you have been to the club before it is difficult to remember which street to take off of Powerline. I thought Crazy Horse was a step ahead of PInk Pony - a couple weeks before I saw a big sign saying this turn for the all new Crazy Horse. I did not see this sign today but I may have just missed it. I had to google the club to find the cross street. When I arrived at the club there were maybe 10 cars in the parking lot (not a good sign already). Parking in a self parking area was $2 and the cover was $5. Parking attendant and front door girl - very nice and welcoming. When we entered the club I believe I saw a total of 12 customers including me and my buddy. They had several tvs going - none had the Heat game on which was going into the 4th quarter. I asked the bar back if they could put the game on one of the tvs - he said yes and right away a management person put the game on for us. Excellent customer service - sounds like a small thing but how many times you ask for something small like this in a club and no one responds. We sat at a table by the tvs a short distance away from the stage. The complex itself is striking - huge incredibly well appointed and spacious. The first girl that got on stage was white and looked to be in her late 40's and in a gown. Wow that surprised me - could not believe she would be part of their line up. No offense to the poor lady but she should not still be dancing. The waitress came to our table and she was so cute - amazing personality - so wished she was one of the dancers. She was really sweet and said we were not the first ones to mention to her about the lack of quality of the dancers. After the 40's girl left there were two or three consecutive average white girls - not bad just not too exciting/probably 5's depending upon your personal taste. No girls approached our table even though we tipped each dancer on stage. Of course the 40 year old that we did not tip came straight for our table. We did the best we could to be polite and kind while moving her on. The next dancer was a nice AA girl with a great body - we tipped her hard and definitely enjoyed her dance. The next dancer was a feature dancer of some sort - seemed to be a washed up porn actress in her final years working. Management presence was obvious which was a good thing. The whole time I was there I kept thinking - what a shame - beautiful club - seemingly well trained staff and management - no customers and no quality dancers except for one. After enjoying some more conversation with the waitress - we tipped her and headed out. We were just bored with the line up. I was really hoping to see some signs of life with this club - not sure why they are focusing their marketing efforts on washed up porn stars and feature appearances from the likes of Scott Dissick from the Kardashians. What this club desperately needs is customers and dancers - free drink nights for certain time slots - whatever you have to do to get people in the door. When the crowds come the girls will follow the money!! As I side note I passed by Diamond Dolls which is a couple blocks away and it was packed. Crazy Horse is a far superior physical location than Diamond Dolls - hard to believe this location hasn't taken off. As we were leaving the cute waitress gave us a hug and said please come back and see her. She was so impressive I told the management gentlemen that opened the door for us as we left how great she was. Again, he was professional and said guys we are just getting going - please come back and see us. Not sure if the club can get off the ground - the physical location is definitely a barrier to success. Me for one, I will be rooting for them - really nice staff. I am definitely going to give them another shot in the next couple of weeks and hope for the best. It would be a shame if this beautiful club fails again...
