I went to Concepts in Lawrenceburg...

I went to Concepts in Lawrenceburg on a Friday night around 10pm after winning a jackpot at Rising Star. Parking is on the street. The cover charge was $6. The club is pretty small and the secondhand smoke is bad inside, so I only stayed a little over an hour. (Indiana’s statewide smoking ban excludes bars and strip clubs.) When you enter, a bar with about six stools is straight ahead. To the right is the main stage surrounded by a railing. To the left is a second and third stage. Both of these stages are smaller and box-style. Lap dances take place in a room beyond the main stage. They are done on benches with backs, and there is no privacy. Dancers pick their music off of a TouchTunes jukebox. An emcee sits at the table next to the jukebox, announcing the dancers on the sound system. Domestic bottles of beer were $4. The washroom was small, and the floor was covered in urine.

There were twenty-two dancers on shift Friday night. Twenty were Caucasian, and two were African-American. Dancers ranged from 3-7 on my discriminating attractiveness scale. There were no Penthouse Pet quality dancers, but a few of the 7’s would have been acceptable for lap dances. Every dancer working here had multiple tattoos. One thing I noticed was just about every single dancer here showed at least a little wear and tear from childbirth (e.g. stretch marks, loose skin). I saw a dancer I had gotten seven dances from on my last visit, shy of two years ago. She looked like she had aged five years in less than two years. The stripper lifestyle really took a toll on her. A dancer with a man’s haircut approached me from behind, not even looking at my face and said, “Do you want a dance?” I told her that I never get dances from a dancer whose first words to me are asking me for a dance. She said, “Don’t you know you are in a lap dance club?” I told the butch I was not interested in arguing and that she should get lost. Lap dances are $15, but I did not indulge due to not being in the mood for a 7 or lower this particular evening.

This club was a little worse than my last visit in 2013. The dancer line-up seemed tired and less attractive. A lot of the dancers spent time with their friends or regulars and did not circulate much. The best thing this club has going for it is that there is no competition nearby and the commensalism of out-of-towners driven by the local casinos. The club is reasonable price-wise, but the secondhand smoke would make me think twice about visiting again any time soon.
