It's definitely time to re-think The Barrel. I've long thought of the club as an OK place with some days better than others, but nothing special. To be honest, most of the dancers in the past were disappointing, with the ones who were hot and/or knew how to dance spending all their time with regular customers. While that may be understandable, it doesn't give non-regulars a good impression of the club.
A few months ago, as I noted in a review, I found the club had actually gotten better, but still wasn't worth going out of my way for. I decided to pay it another visit on a recent Sunday afternoon to see if things continued to get better. In short, I was thoroughly impressed.
The Barrel has a quaint, neighborhood bar kind of feel to it. After walking in, you'll find a long bar on the left and a high stage with two poles off to the right. There are a few tables along the wall to the right of the stage, with other seating being made up of barrels around the stage and at a bar-like table a few feet in front of the stage. There's a pool table toward the back and the private dance rooms are in the rear. It's a spacious club that was renovated about a year-and-a-half-ago. It may not be fancy, but it's clean, comfortable, and friendly.
