I had heard X was more of a local neighborhood hangout since it was far off the beaten path but I figured it was worth a look.

To my surprise, I was greeted with the most friendly reception I have ever received in Columbus. The gentleman was quite knowledgeable about the club's history and I was quite interested in how it arrived at its present state.

In fact, all of the staff were very pleasant with ready smiles and greetings for an obvious out of towner. It promised to be an excellent evening except that due to weather there were not many dancers on hand. I was eventually approached by a thin blonde and she was quite cute. Good conversation, hand on leg, and it took her 30 minutes of ever increasing "I want it" messages before the dance menu came trotting out. Well, I fell for it, forgetting the rule of thumb that "...she who promises the moon won't deliver even green cheese...". The rule stands unbroken. No other unattached dancers in sight and the late hour convinced me to leave while I still had my wallet. On my way out, more congenial conversation with the front man and a departing local was the perfect ending to a decent evening, mostly. Of course, it didn't hurt that the weather kept the hotter dancers away according to the locals holding up the bar so now I am really curious. It's not the easiest place to find but well worth the time and effort.
